2009 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament TOP CATCHER RELEASE TIMES

 TOP CATCHER RELEASE TIMES

Twelve catchers checked in with times between 2.01 and 2.05, while twenty posted release times of 2.00 seconds or lower – these two groups combined made up nearly two-thirds of the total catchers in attendance, certainly indicative of a talented group as a whole. John A. Logan College signee Luke Voit threw a 1.88 to lead this category.

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ

Release times, running times, and pitch velocities were gathered by our scouting staff at this event  – just as they are at every Baseball Factory event. Our scouts are well trained, experienced and professional in their fair and unbiased approach to evaluating each player. Scouting is subjective by nature, but running an accurate stopwatch is a skill that is developed with experience. As such, the times recorded for each player are an accurate measure of the specific performance that was scouted.

With that in mind, please look at the below numbers as what they are. They are measurements of a particular skill performed by a player at a specific time, taken by capable and experienced scouts. That particular time or velocity for a particular player may have been his best, worst, or somewhere in the middle. We are fully aware (since we previously scouted every player in attendance) that many players have run faster, thrown harder, or posted lower release times at a previous event (Baseball Factory or otherwise).

Top release times appear in order by lowest single time, and are further sorted by the high end of the player’s release time range.  Several players have made college commitments, they appear in ( ).
