2011 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Top 15: 2011 Grads Honorable Mentions

With over 260 players participating in the 2011 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament, powered by Baseball Factory, our scouts were treated to players from across the country that had many tools including sub seven second speed, sub two second pop time and above 89mph velocities. While we cannot honor everyone that attended we did want to highlight a few players that stood out.

The following are the Top 15 2011 Grads Honorable Mentions from the 2011 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament. They are listed in alphabetical order.

Keaton Aldridge | C | Birmingham, AL | Glenwood
A LH hitting catcher with an athletic body, a live arm (1.93 to 2B) and sound receiving skills. He should develop into a major contributor at University of Memphis.

Eben Brooks | RHP | Murphysboro, IL | Murphysboro
An athletic  6’3” RHP with downhill plane to his 86-88 mph fastball. Good finish to his pitches allows him to stay down in the zone and get good bite on his breaking ball.

Brendan Butler  | 1B | Bel Air, MD | John Carroll
This 1B has an exciting mix of tools with 6.72 speed and power from a 6’2”/200 frame. He is a gamer who takes these tools into games and uses them. He should make an immediate impact at Towson University.

Caleb Daniels | RHP | Norton, VA | Burton
RHP with impressive mix of three quality pitches. FB sits 84-87 with late run, CB is tight and he has great feel for his change. Overall, an aggressive strike thrower with a great feel on the mound.

Dan Denton | OF | Newtown, PA | Council Rock North

A big, physical outfielder who runs well (7.0 in 60) and has legitimate power. Good leverage and present strength in 6’1/200 body. He is a corner OF prospect who profiles to be a middle-of-the-order run producer at the next level.

Jaylen Fleer | RHP | Santee, CA | Santana

Tall, lean RHP (6’4”/180) with long arms and legs.  Throws a mid 80s fastball from a low effort delivery and puts hitters away with a swing-and-miss CB. Complements those two offerings with a developing straight change.

Armando Garza | RHP/C | Mcallen, TX | Mcallen
Strong-bodied player who is the interesting combo of RHP/C .  He is capable behind the plate with some juice in the bat, but higher ceiling appears to be on mound. Arsenal includes a FB that touches 90 mph, biting breaking ball, sinking change and a two-seamer with tail.

Ian Mezlak | MIF/C | Lorain, OH | Clearview
Athletic young player who can catch and play the middle infield. As a catcher, showed quick feet, clean transfer and arm strength with times in the 1.81-2.0 range.  Also shows good actions at SS and a line drive stroke from the left side.

Cody Miller | RHP | Westlake, OH | Padua Franciscan
Projectable young arm with great pitcher’s frame (6’5”/210). Mature and in control on mound with a repertoire of FB up to 87, downer breaking ball with sharp action, solid change and a split that acts as his out-pitch. Should be a nice addition at James Madison.

Maverick Myers | 3B | Farmington, WV | North Marion
Physical 3B who will be a monster when he fills out. Athletic at 3B with smooth infield actions and can really handle the bat. Power will be there in future and he should be an RBI guy at higher levels. Unfazed by quality pitching.

Paul Pappaceno | LHP | Rutherford, NJ | St. Peter's Prep
6’3” LHP with serious upside. Throws 4-seam and 2-seam fastballs that both have late life. Tops out in mid 80s now with more in the tank, but circle change and movement on the FB are his game. Spins a CB that will be a solid future pitch as well.

Tanner Pollack | OF | Bradenton, FL | IMG Academy
A strong, athletic corner OF with a quality approach at the plate. The ball comes off his bat with authority and his LH stroke uses the entire field well. Simple stroke will be successful at the next level.  Plays the game hard.

Robert Rabakozi | C | Burbank, IL | Reavis
Large-framed 6’3” catcher with solid skill set. Feet move well and receives with soft hands. Flashes sub 2.0 times to 2B and shows quick hands at the plate where he drives balls into the gaps. Will play for Valparaiso next year.

Jake Ross | C | Black Diamond, WA | Kentlake
Complete catcher with good catch and throw skills (1.94 in a game) who is excellent on balls in the dirt. Aggressive approach at the plate with some bat speed and the ability to find the barrel on a consistent basis.

William Townsend | OF/1B | Natchtoches, LA | St. Mary’s
Quality athlete (6.9 runner) who can play all three outfield positions and 1B. Gamer who plays above his tools and can really swing the bat. Line drive stroke with great barrel accuracy, and a patient, mature approach at the plate.
