2014 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament: 2015 Grad Honorable Mentions

With over 400 players participating in the 2014 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament, powered by Baseball Factory, our scouts were treated to players from across the country that had many tools from blistering foot speed, to rockets for arms on the mound and behind the plate. While we cannot honor everyone that attended we did want to highlight a few players that stood out.

The following are the 2015 Grads Honorable Mentions from the 2014 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament.

Nick Anderson | OF | Sugar Land, TX | Kempner
Strong, physical player who plays the game hard. Short, powerful stroke results in hard contact to all fields. Went 5-6 at this event with 3 triples. Runs well and tracks balls well in the OF. Also a talented RB on the football field.

Craig Barry | OF | Hahira, GA | Valdosta

OF who a clean, quick swing and the arm to profile at RF. Quiet approach at the plate with the ability to square up balls to all fields. Strength through contact. Moves well in the OF and throws have carry and are accurate. Big frame (6’3”/190lbs) with more power to come.

Joey Bart | C | Buford, GA | Buford
Big physical catcher with legitimate present power. Aggressive approach and bat speed allow him to drive the ball to all fields. Flexible behind the dish with arm strength.

Connor Berry | RHP | Sugar Land, TX | Kempner
Polished RHP with serious late life to his fastball that gets into the low 90s. Slider acts as an out pitch with late, biting 2-plane break. Athletic strike thrower who knows how to pitch.

Noah Croft | C | Olathe, KS | Olathe South
Strong, athletic catcher with excellent set of tools. Can run (6.93 in the 60), throw (1.88 to 2B) and swing the bat on a large frame (6’3”, 210).

Luke Eigsti | OF | Scottsdale, AZ | Saguaro
Long, lean OF prospect with excellent arm strength and a high ceiling at the plate. Swing is balanced and repeatable with a good move through the zone. Swing has some leverage power that will continue to show more consistently. Natural defender with strong, accurate arm. Also up to 89mph on the mound.

Ethan Gillis | LHP | Senoia, GA | White Water
LHP who is a large, intimating presence on the mound (6’6”/240 lbs). Runs FB into the mid 80s with good finish to the pitch – gets on hitters quickly. Also has a feel for CB and CH. With a clean arm and big frame, there is lots of potential in this young pitcher.

Austin Havekost | RHP | Seville, OH | Medina
Mature-bodied RHP who throws a heavy fastball that creeps into the low 90s. Strong lower half and loose arm give him the look of a workhorse on the mound. Also throws a curve with ¾ action to it.

Tyler Halas | SS | Chicago, IL | St. Rita of Cascia
Infielder with smooth, fluid defensive actions in the middle of the diamond. Excellent hands and natural look around the bag. Aggressive RH swing at the plate with the ability to square up good pitching.

Scott Kapers | C | Schererville, IN | Mount Carmel
Solid catch-and-throw guy with soft but strong hands as a receiver. Outstanding arm strength combined with quick feet and exchange lead to times to 2B as low as 1.79. Line drive stroke with good hands.

Parker Kelly | RHP/ IF | Portland, OR | Westview
Excellent young 2-way player with a high ceiling both as a RHP and as an IF. Coordinated swing that results in hard contact and present power with more to come. Athletic defender with sure hands and plenty of arm strength across the diamond. As a pitcher, ball leaves his hand with life. Sinking FB and curve with depth offer good combination on the mound.

Devin McKesson | LHP | Corona, CA | Temescal Canyon
Big, strong LHP who is a presence on the mound. Mid 80s fastball has late sink and curve and change are solid complements. Delivery is balanced and repeatable. There is more velocity in the tank.

Jared Padgett | LHP | Graceville, FL | Graceville
LHP with tall, lean frame and long arms. Very uncomfortable at bats, especially for LHHs. Deceptive, fast-paced delivery with a clean arm that runs his FB up to 88mph. Breaking ball has sharp, late action and is a swing-and-miss pitch. Also mixes in a change. Very good LHP with lots of upside.

Nic Ready | 1B | Dallas, TX | Jesuit College Prep
Big, strong 1B prospect with present power. Generates excellent bat speed with good whip through the hitting zone leading to loud contact. Moves well at 1B with a feel around the bag. Run producer at the next level.

Christopher Reid | SS | Baton Rouge, LA | St. Michael’s
Solid all-around player with excellent feel for the game and high baseball IQ. LH stroke is simple and effective with rhythm, bat speed and loose actions. Efficient defender with sure hands and a smooth transfer.

Alex Reyes | RHP | El Paso, TX | El Dorado
Young RHP with good feel for pitching. Fastball sits comfortable in the upper 80s with good sink and tail to it. Complements it with ¾ tilt slider and solid change. Polished arm who is control on the mound.

Kyle Robeniol  | LHP | Alta Loma, CA | Los Osos
LHP with medium-sized frame who can really pitch. Good feel  for FB/CB/CH mix with the confidence to throw any pitch in any count. Uses both sides of the plate and repeats his delivery well.

Cesar Salazar | C | Tucson, AZ | Sahuaro
Interesting combination of a strong, durable build and quick twitch actions from a catcher. Very quick feet and exchange lead to 1.9 times to 2B. LH stroke is balanced, quiet and controlled.

Jordan Scott | IF/OF | Conyers, GA | Salem
Dynamic athlete who swings the bat well from both sides of the plate and can run (6.69 in the 60). Physical body with smooth, fluid actions on the field and in the box. Versatile defender who can play OF and IF spots.

Alex Shaver | OF | Sugar Land, TX | George Ranch
The fatest player at the event (6.60 in the 60), Alex has exciting tools. His speed combines with instincts to give him the range to play CF. At the plate, he has a quick, short LH stroke that sprays line drives to all fields and has surprising pop.

Hunter Stovall | C | Pelham, AL | Pelham
A true “baseball player”, Hunter has tools that all play in the game. He can run (6.78 in the 60), has a line drive stroke that uses the whole field and is a quality defender and leader at the catching position with arm strength and a quick release (1.85 to 2B).

LJ Talley | SS | Folkston, GA | Charlton County
Advanced approach at the plate from the left side. Swing is balanced, rhythmic and simple leading to consistent barrel accuracy. Confident and dependable in the infield with sure hands, natural actions and a clean release. A LHH shortstop with a bright future.

James Terrell | OF | Fairfield, CA | St. Patrick – St. Vincent
Speedy OF prospect (6.71 in the 60) with quick first step who has the range to play CF at the next level. Quick hands and level path lead to consistent contact at the plate.

Tyler Williams | OF | Peoria, AZ | Kellis
A physical specimen with an exciting mix of tools. Excellent runner (6.71 in the 60) with present strength that leads to hard contact and power. Huge upside player who could explode in next two years.

Garrett Zech | OF | Naples, FL | Naples
Athletic OF who can run and throw enough to play all 3 OF spots. Swings the bat with authority from the right side with pull side power. Quick twitch player with bright future. Also a talented QB on the football field.
