2017 Infielders Prove Their Mettle At Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament

Zach Orn
While three infielders received mention in the 2017 Top 10 list, there were a few other infielders whose performance in Arizona was worthy of mention.
Valparaiso commit Zach Orn is a talented all-around player with excellent actions and hands in the field. He is a confident defender who also has clean left-handed swing, and showed advanced instincts on the bases.
Another all-around infielder who showed well was Jacob Slaten who has a solid right-handed swing with bat whip. He also has the look of a dependable defender at second base. Sterling Spurling put on an impressive display in games out in Arizona. He went 4-for-6 with two doubles and showed to be dependable at second.

Kale Rhame
There were also a few first basemen who stood out during the weekend.
Kale Rhame has a big, strong frame and a simple, quiet left-handed stroke. Rhame is a Charleston Southern University commit and was 2-for-5 on the weekend and showed very good feel for the barrel.
Another first baseman with offensive upside is Matt McGrady. Matt gets the barrel to the ball with ease with a loose left-handed swing. His 9’2” broad jump shows some of his explosiveness and athleticism.
Finally, two-way player Jake McKenna flashed big right-handed power, went 3-for-4 with two walks while also jumping on the mound to show a solid three-pitch mix.
