Possessing one of the prettiest left-handed swings you will see, Riley flat out hits. It doesn’t matter if it is in batting practice, a high school game, a travel team tournament or a showcase setting, it seems that Riley is always finding the barrel and doing damage. He can drive the ball to all fields, and though his stroke seems to be effortless, the fly balls he hits just continue to carry. Often times they carry well out of the park like the ball he hit into the trees at a minor league spring training field at a Baseball Factory event he attended.
While his offense is his calling card, it is far from his only attribute. Riley ran a 6.69 in the 60 and uses that speed to close on balls in the outfield and to put pressure on the defense when on the bases. His arm is strong and accurate, finishing off a defensive profile that allows him to play all three outfield spots.
Riley’s an advanced all-around prospect now, but his lean 6’2” frame suggests that there is even more on the horizon. It will be exciting to watch his impact bat this summer at the Under Armour All-America Game and beyond.
