Adisyn Coffey Adds 5 mph, Trims 4 Tenths in Xenia, OH
Despite a tender arm that prevented him from taking the mound as scheduled at the Xenia, OH Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout, SS/RHP Adisyn Coffey (Albany, IN) reached 89 mph raw velocity to join a large group on that number in the class of 2017. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 168 pounds, Coffey is an extremely talented defender with quick feet and sure hands to go with a strong arm. A right-handed hitter, he reached 89 mph exit velocity to qualify among the 2017 leaders in that category, and ran a solid 7.16 60 yard dash.
We last saw Coffey at the December 2014 Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City, where he posted 84 mph raw velocity, ran 7.56 in the 60 yard dash and topped at 78 mph with his fastball. His gains of 5 mph raw velocity and four tenths in the 60 yard dash between then and now are noteworthy, and his fastball would have likely posted similar gains had he been able to throw a bullpen.
Other raw velocity qualifiers in Xenia included 2018 SS Tyler McDonough (Hamilton, OH) at 85 mph, and 2019 SS Ryan Galanie (Mason, OH) at 84 mph — a number only nine players in the class of 2019 have bested so far.
At the Stockon, CA tryout, 2018 1B Reed Blanton (Elk Grove, CA) touched 84 mph, while 2019 graduates OF Brendan Ekizian (Merced, CA) and 3B Cameron Ceja (Manteca, CA) reached 80 and 78 mph respectively. Fellow 2019 graduate OF Trey Daugherty (Bellevue, IA) posted 80 mph to qualify among the leaders at the Monticello, IA tryout.
