American Legion and Baseball Factory form Strategic Partnership

The partnership will provide baseball players nationwide with increased player development and college placement opportunities

COLUMBIA, MD (July 16, 2009) – Baseball Factory announced today a strategic partnership with The American Legion that will provide amateur players with new opportunities to develop their baseball skills and fulfill their dream of playing college baseball.  The organizations will work together to provide American Legion members with instructional camps, showcases and baseball clinics to supplement their experience with their local American Legion team.  This will hopefully increase their success both on and off the field.

“As a former American Legion Baseball player I have had first hand experience as to the positive impact this league has on thousands of baseball players throughout the country,” said Steve Sclafani, Baseball Factory CEO and Founder.  “We are excited to help augment the American Legion Baseball experience by serving as both a player development and college recruiting resource for these young players and parents.”

Since 1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program.  During these past eight decades, millions of young players have enjoyed playing baseball through The American Legion program.  The American Legion and their 2.8 million members have raised millions of dollars each year for players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership and good sportsmanship.  The American Legion sponsors American Legion Baseball to give players an opportunity to develop their skills, personal fitness, leadership qualities and to have fun.

Larry Price, national chairman of The American Legion baseball program stated, “we are excited to have Baseball Factory as a new partner.  The expert staff at Baseball Factory will bring a new dimension to our program and to thousands of American Legion players who play the game each year.  It is well known that over half of all college players came from American Legion programs.  With Baseball Factory’s expertise, more players will have the opportunity to be evaluated, developed and able to make smarter choices when it comes to selecting that college.”

Baseball Factory is widely recognized as the top, hands-on player development and marketing service in the United States.  Over 2,500 players from Baseball Factory and Team One, the company’s showcase and tournament division, have been selected in the amateur draft, with over 215 of those players going on to the Major Leagues.  In addition, Baseball Factory and Team One have assisted players in obtaining over $500 million in scholarships and over 25,000 of their players have gone on to compete at the college level.  The company holds more than 200 baseball camps, clinics, showcases and tournaments each year.

The partnership will kick off with various events for American Legion players at ballparks across the country. The events will be held at minor league, college and high school facilities nationwide and American Legion players will be invited to participate.  In addition to improving baseball skills, Baseball Factory works with potential college players and their parents on both the academic and athletic aspects of the college placement process.
