Baseball Factory 2015 MLB Draft Coverage – 96+ MPH Velocity
One of the most exciting sights in the game of baseball is an electric fastball. Whether its a team’s starting pitcher or a closer looking to shut a game down, it’s also one of the more intimidating things to face as a hitter going up against a pitcher with outstanding fastball velocity.
For Mike Nikorak, Justin Hooper, Donny Everett and Beau Burrows, these players demonstrate the raw power of fastball velocity. All four throw 96+ MPH and all four could be first-day MLB Draft selections.
Justin Hooper may be the most unique of the four prospects because of his size (6’7″, 230 pounds) his three-quarter arm-slot which leads to excellent movement and being a left-handed pitcher with a live arm. Meanwhile, righties Nikorak, Everett and Burrows all have the track record that show they could be selected in day one of the 2015 Draft.
Nikorak’s fastball was much-talked about during last year’s All-America Game as he touched 97 on the radar gun and utilized an athletic delivery. Burrows is an athletic pitcher with a lightning-quick arm. His velocity consistently sat mid 90’s, up to 96 during the All-America Game and he continuously attacked hitters with his plus, overpowering fastball.
Explosive fastball velocity isn’t easy to find, especially in high school prospects, but an even rarer find is a pitcher who has the high velocity who can also spot the fastball on a consistent basis as well.
