The 2006 Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic, powered by Baseball Factory and Team One, will showcase the best high school baseball players from across the nation

The Baseball Factory and Team One have announced that the second annual Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic will take place in Wareham, Massachusetts, July 28, 2006 at Noon.  The High School Classic will showcase the most talented high school rising seniors and juniors from across the nation.  The Cape Cod Baseball League will once again serve as official host for the game, providing a historic setting for this event.

The Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic will precede the Cape Cod League’s annual All-Star Game, which will take place on July 29 in South Yarmouth, MA.  By hosting the High School Classic at the Cape Cod League, scouts will be able to watch the best high school players followed by the best college players on consecutive days.  All High School Classic players will be honored during the opening ceremonies at the Cape All-Star Game.

Scouts from Team One and Baseball Factory have selected the Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic teams.  Thirty-six players will form two teams that will face off in front of numerous scouting directors and influential decision makers within Major League Baseball.  Almost 100 scouts and college coaches attended last year’s game to evaluate the talented baseball players.  As a result, 17 players from the inaugural game were selected in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft including six players taken in the first 50 overall picks.

Kasey Kiker, LHP, Phenix City, Alabama – Texas Rangers, 1st Round (12 Overall)
Chris Parmelee, OF/1B, Chino Hills, California – Minnesota Twins, 1st Round (20 Overall)
Colton Willems, RHP, Fort Pierce, Florida – Washington Nationals, 1st Round (22 Overall)

Baseball Express will once again serve as the title sponsor for the event.  This sponsorship helps to solidify the company’s support of premier amateur baseball events. Additionally, the sponsorship agreement provides the Cape Cod High School Classic with financial and promotional support to help promote the game to a wider audience.
