Charles Windom Down Two Tenths to 6.75, Into 2019 Top 3

2019 OF Charles Windom

One year ago, at the Monterey Park (Los Angeles, CA area) Under Armour Baseball Factory Interactive Video Program, 2019 OF Charles Windom (Compton, CA) ran 6.99 in the 60 yard dash — a remarkable achievement considering he was just an eighth-grader at the time.

Most recently, again at East Los Angeles College but this time at an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout, Windom ran 6.75 to enter third place alone among 2019 graduates in the 60 yard dash. An improvement of just under a quarter-second in one year is uncommon at any age, and in this case it vaulted him almost all the way to the top of the leaderboard.

1B Grant Maas (Evansville, IN) also moved inside the 2019 top ten with a 6.87 60 yard dash at the Indianapolis, IN UA tryout, and added 80 mph exit velocity to join class leaders in that measure as well.

OF Cade Olsen (Amarillo, TX) and SS Rhett Maynard (Amarillo, TX) rounded out the sub-seven runners from the class of 2019, at 6.95 and 6.97 respectively. Olsen also ranked among 2019 leaders with 78 mph raw velocity and 81 mph exit velocity, while Maynard posted 88 mph exit velocity to tie for fifth among 2019 graduates and added 82 mph raw velocity.

2019 OF/C Trent Willis

2019 OF/C Trent Willis (Childress, TX) ran 7.39 at the April 2015 Under Armour Baseball Factory Interactive Video Program in Plano, TX, and got his 60 time down to 7.26 a few months later in Chicago at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the Under Armour All-America Game. Most recently, at the Plainview, TX Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout, he posted 7.02 in the 60 yard dash to mark an improvement of nearly four tenths in just under one year.

Five others qualified among top 2019 runners, including 2B/RHP Jeb Jenkins (Amarillo, TX) — who now ranks among class leaders in 60 yard dash (7.19), raw velocity (82 mph), fastball velocity (81 mph) and exit velocity (80 mph).

2019 2B/RHP Drew Olssen (Carmel, IN) and SS/C Matt Lelito (St. John, IN) ran 7.09, followed by 2019 SS Maycin Smothermon (Amarillo, TX) at 7.12 and 2019 OF/RHP Nicholas Lorenzo (Woodbridge, VA) at 7.16. Lelito added a low pop time of 2.20, while Smothermon tacked on 82 mph raw velocity and 78 mph exit velocity.

Among 2018 graduates, switch-hitting 2B Kason Haggard (Canyon, TX) ran 6.87, while SS/RHP Damon Keith (Redlands, CA) posted 6.99 to go with an 82 mph fastball.

6.58 earned SS TJ McCall (Olton, TX) and OF/LHP Braden Odom (Chesterfield, IN) — a left-handed hitting two-way guy with a well-rounded set of tools — a tie for 13th-place among 2017 graduates.

After missing qualification by just one mph in both exit velocity (88 mph) and raw velocity (86 mph), 2017 OF/RHP Emilio Lovato (Portales, NM) finally hit pay dirt with a 6.71 60 yard dash.

2017 OF Brandon Stevenson (Wolfforth, TX) came in on the same number at the Plainfield, TX UA tryout, to continue a steady progression for the fourth consecutive event. He ran 6.99 a little less than one year ago at the College Station, TX Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout, and trimmed a little off that number with a move down to 6.93 a couple of months later at the Under Armour Southwest 16u Championships in July. About two weeks later, in Bradenton, FL at the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City, he ran 6.85 to post another solid gain on his 60 yard dash. His most recent 6.71 continued his trend down the stopwatch and up the leaderboard, and represents an improvement of nearly three tenths of a second in less than one year.

Rounding out 2017 qualifiers were SS/RHP Isaiah Davis (Indianapolis, IN) at 6.75 and OF Austin Moody (Washington, IN) at 6.79.
