Former Baseball Factory Player Alex Lange Helps LSU Reach CWS
When you think of the season Alex Lange is having for LSU in 2015 as a freshman, it makes you wonder what he’ll be able to accomplish next season as a sophomore.
Lange was named the 2015 Freshman of the Year by the NCBWA yesterday after an incredible season so far, one in which he is currently 11-0 with an ERA of 1.89. In 16 starts, Lange has held opponents to a .214 batting average in 105.0 innings pitched, striking out 121 batters and only allowing 22 earned runs.
His pitching has helped LSU (53-10) reach their 17th College World Series after dispatching Louisiana-Lafayette in the Super Regionals. In Game 1, Lange pitched eight innings, allowing three earned runs, one walk and 11 strikeouts in LSU’s 4-3 victory.
Lange’s undeniable talent began at an Under Armour Baseball Factory event, as he was part of the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game. During the event, the 6’3, 198 pound pitcher featured one of the better breaking balls during the game, striking out two batters during his inning of work.
The Lee’s Summit, Missouri native was the 2014 Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year, finishing his senior season of high school in 2014 with a 12-0 record, 0.84 ERA and striking out 114 batters in just 68 1/3 innings pitched.
LSU will face off against TCU in the first game on Sunday in the College World Series. The College World Series begins with double elimination in bracket play and then a Best of 3 Championship Series.
