Impressive Young Talent in Colorado For National Tryout Last Weekend
Last Sunday, Baseball Factory’s National Tryout Tour made stops in Tampa, FL, Madison, WI and Lakewood, CO. It was in Lakewood, a town roughly eight miles west of Denver, however that produced some of the top tools we have seen thus far in the 2018 and 2019 classes.
At the Under Armour Baseball Factory workout at Coca Cola All-Star Park in Lakewood, CO, catcher Grant Magill (Highlands Ranch, CO) put on an impressive display and vaulted to the top of two leaderboards in his first-ever event with the Factory. His 1.92 pop time is now 1st in the 2019 class and he tied for the top spot in raw velocity showing 87 mph arm strength.
Another impressive 2019 grad from this session also made his way to the top of a leaderboard.
OF/1B Tayler Aguilar (Evans, CO) now has the top exit velocity with 93 mph. Aguilar’s 7.21 60 yard dash time and 78 mph raw velocity got him onto two other leaderboards, as well. In addition to Magill, fellow catcher Luke Leisenring (a 2018 graduate) impressed the scouts. The switch-hitter from Golden, CO recorded exit velocities from both sides of the plate – 91 mph from the right and 89 mph from the left – to put him on that leaderboard. In addition, his pop time of 1.89 put him at #4 on that 2018 leaderboard and his 86 mph raw velocity landed him on that list, also.
Colorado wasn’t the only place with talented players over the weekend as Florida produced some note-worthy measurables as well. Leading the way was 2017 Khalil Almutasim (Tampa, FL) whose eye-popping 102 mph exit velocity tied him for 2nd overall. Another Tampa native, Jaisen Randolph vaulted into the top 10 on the 60-yard dash leaderboard with a time of 6.50.
