Josh Harrison Wants To Prove 2014 Season Was No Fluke

After bouncing around multiple positions and playing sparingly in his first three major league seasons, Josh Harrison found a comfort zone and a regular spot in Clint Hurdle’s lineup for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2014.

Harrison broke out in a huge way, playing 143 games last season between third and second base, short stop, in addition to left and right field. Being a versatile defender all over the diamond didn’t affect him offensively, setting new career highs in doubles (38), triples (7) as well as 13 home runs and 52 RBI. Harrison made the All-Star team and finished 9th in National League MVP voting.

This year, he won’t need to prove much to be a regular fixture in Pittsburgh’s lineup, but he’s not satisfied with just one season of good baseball.

Harrison recently told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette how he wants people around baseball to view him, saying, “He’s dangerous because we don’t know what he’s going to do. That’s the biggest key about this game. You want to be able to have your opponent wondering what you’re going to do.”

So far this spring, Josh hasn’t slowed down, going 5-for-12 with a run and a double, despite rolling his ankle and sitting out a few games. He twisted the same left ankle last season, but all reports indicate Harrison is fine.

Harrison, a Baseball Factory alumnus, is an important part of the Pirates puzzle as they try to return to the playoffs in 2015. Harrison appeared in 115 of the Pirates final 120 games last season.
