Nine Baseball Factory Alumni On Collegiate Baseball’s Preseason All American 3rd Team

Nine Baseball Factory Alumni joined over 20 BF Alumni on Collegiate Baseball Preseason All American 1st and 2nd teams when the publication Collegiate Baseball announced their prestigious watch list last week.

Cameron Ragsdale

Cameron Ragsdale – RHP, Florida Atlantic University

Ragsdale, a senior, led Conference USA with 15 saves in 2016, which was good for fifth in the nation. His 1.61 ERA coupled with giving up just 18 hits in 28 innings was good enough for a spot on the All-CUSA 2nd team. Ragsdale also had a scoreless streak of 21 innings, which was impressive considering it was his first year playing at the NCAA Division 1 Level. We first saw Ragsdale at a College PREP Event in Atlanta, where he was a stud RHP/C. He got his velocity as high as 88 MPH. He impressed further at the 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All America Tournament, where he showed a very solid mound presence and great rhythm.

John Ruiz

John Ruiz – SS, University of Miami (Fla.)

Ruiz capped a 2016 All-ACC Second Team selection by being drafted in the 28th round by the Houston Astros. He started every single game for the Canes, hitting .342 while driving in 57 runs. Ruiz also cranked four home runs, three triples and 17 doubles (which was good for first on the team). He was also a standout defensively on what was the best fielding team in the country, making just eight errors all year. Ruiz came to a National Tryout back in 2011 who showcased his excellent glove skills and arm. As a 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All America Tournament participant, he also displayed an uncanny ability to drive the baseball and stay balanced.

Luis Gonzalez

Luis Gonzalez – UT, University of New Mexico

Gonalez comes off of a year where he not only hit .281 with 6 homers and 48 RBIs, but also went 3-1 with 18 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings on the bump. He was also named to the All-NCAA Lubbock regional team after getting on base at a .667 clip in the three games with four doubles and eight RBI. Gonzalez was a 2014 UA Pre-Season All America, where he showed a knack for barreling the baseball and great gap to gap power. On the mound, he showed a fastball with late life that touched 89 and a solid curveball that showed plus potential.
