The Road to Wrigley is filled with stories of successful baseball players who have come through the Baseball Factory system after attending a tryout and putting their talent on display.

Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, is in its 101st year of existence in 2015 and the magic and awe of the legendary facility is not lost on any of the players, families, scouts and coaches that all have a part in making the Under Armour All-America Game a special event to take part in.

To get to Wrigley Field in August, nearly 400 athletes will first make a stop in Mesa, Arizona to take part in the Under Armour Pre-Season All-American Tournament. Because of that opportunity, they’re offered a once-in-a-lifetime chance to compete with the best players in the country and have the honor of All-American bestowed upon them.

Along the way, many former players, much like the ones who will visit Cubs Park in Mesa this weekend for the UA Pre-Season All-America Tournament, received their big breaks at a tryout, doing well enough to become a Pre-Season All-American and going on to play in the All-America game.

Outfielder Billy McKinney took part in the 2011 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament and was selected as a 2012 Under Armour All-American. McKinney was a first round selection (25th overall) of the Oakland Athletics in the 2013 MLB Draft. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs and in 2014, was named an MILB.com organization all-star.

Baseball-Factory-Wrigley3Alex Jackson, a 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-American, made his way to Wrigley as the only 2014 graduate position player at that year’s event. Jackson’s bat and outstanding defense paved the way for him being selected 6th overall in the 2014 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. In his first professional season, Alex hit .280 in 23 games in Arizona League play.

Under Armour All-American GameTeddy Stankiewicz was the starting pitcher for the National Team in the 2011 UA All-America Game and delivered a 95 mph fastball on the first pitch he threw. Stankiewicz was then named a 2012 Pre-Season All-American and was drafted in the 2nd round in 2012 by the New York Mets and then again in 2013 by the Boston Red Sox where he won 11 games for Single-A Greenville in 2014.

We are very proud of our Under Armour Pre-Season All-American players and wish them great success this weekend.
