Three Former Baseball Factory Players Signed During International Signing Period
The start of the 2015-16 International Signing Period begins today and Baseball Factory is proud to announce and congratulate three alumni who have signed contracts with major league teams.
The contracts and reported money have not yet been confirmed by the clubs that have signed them.
Lucius Fox, who today celebrates his 18th birthday, signed a contract with the San Francisco Giants and came to terms on a bonus worth a reported $6 million as announced today at a press conference in his native Bahamas.
The infielder, who grew up in the Bahamas and played baseball in the United States, participated in a Team One Florida event last summer and also attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Delray Beach, FL back in the winter of 2012.
He’s played both shortstop and second base and offensively has handled the bat well. Fox was ranked No. 3 on MLB.com’s Top 30 International Prospects list.
Franklin Reyes, a power-hitting outfielder from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic was a 2014 Under Armour All-American and swung the bat extremely well during the event, generating outstanding bat speed and displaying raw power that will translate well for a kid already standing 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds. His older brother, Franmil Reyes plays in the San Diego Padres organization.
Reyes ranked No. 30 on MLB.com’s Top International Prospects list as the outfielder inked a deal with the Chicago White Sox for a reported $1.5 million bonus.
Another 2014 Under Armour All-American signed today is outfielder Starling Heredia, rated No. 5 on MLB.com’s Top International Prospects list.
The 16-year-old from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic signed a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers worth a reported $2.6 million in bonuses for the athletic outfielder who showed well-rounded skills at the dish, producing hard contact gap-to-gap with excellent bat speed.
He’s been compared physically in stature to that of a young Yasiel Puig.
