Two Baseball Factory Players Commit To College Programs

Baseball Factory is proud to announce two recent College commitments who will be graduating in 2016 and who have participated in a number of Under Armour Baseball Factory Player Development events in recent months and years.

Justin Waltmon

Justin Waltmon

Justin Waltmon – Waltmon has committed to Hill College, a junior college in Hillsboro, TX to continue his baseball career, post high school. He enters his senior season at Huffman Hargrave High School in Huffman, TX looking to help his team reach the post season again, building upon this past season’s run to the Regional Finals after dispatching the Center Rough Riders in the Regional Semifinal Series with Huffman winning the best-of-three series, two games to one. Waltmon helped the cause in Game 2, driving in the first two runs, en route to a 13-4 victory. Huffman moved on to face West Orange-Stark in the Regional Finals where they missed the State Tournament by just one victory.

Beginning his Baseball Factory journey, Waltmon attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Houston, TX back in June of 2013, displaying the skills that allowed him to be selected for various showcases and tournaments as he played against other top competition around the country. In June 2013, Waltmon was selected to participate in Baseball Factory’s National World Series at Pirate City where he projected well as a third baseman and right-handed pitcher.

Scouts and coaches raved about his mental makeup and fierce competitiveness, becoming a very solid two-way player during his time at the Omaha National World Series (June 2014) and the Under Armour Southwest Championships (July 2014) where he continued to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the field, he improved his defensive grade, making adjustments in his approach to the baseball and accuracy with his throws. With the bat, he improved his bat speed and good leverage in his swing which made the baseball jump off his bat.

Christian Julius – Julius has committed to Rollins College in Winter Park, FL to play collegiately in 2016. He attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory College PREP event in Grand Prairie, TX, near Dallas, back in December 2014, showing great athleticism and running a 7.04 60-yard time.

A month later, Christian was named to the 2015 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament where he showed plus abilities at first base and especially on the mound. His fastball sat low 80’s with a quality changeup and was able to throw all of his pitches for strikes with consistent command and control.

In July of this year at the Under Armour Baseball Factory College PREP event in Carrolton, TX, and throughout the summer, Julius topped out between 87-88 MPH with his fastball. His secondary stuff was very impressive in accompanying his fastball. He was also able to lower his 60-yard down to 6.97 but it was his bat at the event that had scouts and coaches the most excited. His swing projects to power and he can hit for average with his ability to repeat his swing with good hand action.
