Under Armour All-Americans are selected by a committee of Baseball Factory scouts and compete in an American vs. National team match-up. The All-America Baseball Game is the culmination of a four-day premier baseball experience, highlighted by a formal workout for Major League Baseball (MLB) scouts and a home run derby, all while under the tutelage of some of the game’s best players and coaches.

Since the game’s inception in 2008, 365 of the 399 draft eligible players from the Under Armour All-America Game have been selected in the MLB Amateur Draft including 108 first round picks.

Donovan Tate is a premium athlete in a pro-ready 6'3" body with potential to be a five-tool outfielder. He will continue to add more muscle to his frame, but he already possesses enough strength to grind through a professional season. He glides in the outfield by combining his plus speed with outstanding instincts, and his arm is ML average at present with occasional flashes of above average. At the plate, Tate makes hard contact, uses the whole field and shows glimpses of future power. His "uncoiling" right handed swing doesn't keep the bat in the zone long enough to consistently hit high level pitching at present, but his eye hand coordination and aptitude should make it easy for him to make some minor mechanical adjustments. Tate is a premium prospect who will command a lot to buy him out of his football/baseball commitment to UNC. His promise to give up football was short-lived and he may be tempted to go and play QB for the Tar Heels following in his former NFL father's footsteps. Drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 1st round (3rd overall) of the 2009 MLB Draft.

    • College Commitment: Oklahoma State University

Mychal Givens has been on the radar of scouts for several years. Although known as a SS prospect early on, he is now a legitimate 2-way player who could be drafted as either a shortstop or a right-handed pitcher. In recent months, it seems that more teams like his future on the mound due to his electric arm. He throws a tailing FB from a low ' arm slot that jumps out of his hand and has touched as high as 97mph. He comfortably sits in the 92-95 range with a solid change as his second pitch and a sweeping breaking ball that he shows at times. If teams have interest in him on the mound, it is likely in the role of a closer or late inning reliever. As a position player, he shows off his plus arm at SS to go with sure hands. His athleticism is on display everywhere, though he is sometimes more style than substance. He has strength on his frame and a level swing that allows him to spray line drives to all fields. Some adjustments at the plate are necessary to see him as a productive offensive player at the highest level in the future. Overall, Givens is a premium athlete that will garner interest at both positions this spring and should receive first round consideration. Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2nd round of the 2009 MLB Draft. Currently a reliever with the Orioles.

    Lufkin, TX, 2009
    • HT/WT: 6'3''/180

    • College Commitment: Texas Christian University

Matt Purke is a LHP with a great pitcher's body and front-of-the-rotation stuff. He has a lean 6'3" frame with long arms and a high waist. His arm action is clean and continuous, but his arm angle is a bit low and leads to "slinging" type action at times. His delivery is low effort and repeatable and allows him to command all three of his pitches. His fastball sits in the 90-92 range with tail and he can reach back for as much as 94 when he needs it. His breaking ball has slurve action to it with ' tilt and good depth. He also mixes in a polished change with some fade to it. Purke has had success at every level he has pitched including a tough high school conference in Texas and the USA National Team. He has a relaxed, care-free demeanor that serves him well in pressure situations. He is extremely poised on the mound for a young pitcher. Purke's ability and make-up could lead to him being the first high school name called in the 2009 draft. Drafted in 2009 (14th overall) by the Texas Rangers, but decided to play collegiately at TCU. Drafted in the 3rd round of the 2011 Draft and is currently in the Chicago White Sox organization.
