Under Armour All-Americans Demorizi, Munoz Sign Professional Deals

Baseball Factory is happy to announce a pair of switch hitting shortstops from the Dominican Republic recently signed contracts with Professional Organizations.  16-year-old Ronniel Demorizi has agreed to a deal worth $105,000 with the Toronto Blue Jays organization, while fellow 16-year old Yairo Munoz signed a deal with the Oakland Athletics organization for $280,000.  Both Demorizi and Munoz are former Under Armour All-Americans.

At 6 feet and 170 pounds, Demorizi has the prototypical makeup of a speedy middle infielder, and he has become a very coveted player in both national and international markets.  His talent earned him a selection to the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory.  As a member of the Dominican Prospect League, he has worked on refining his skills and is now regarded as one of the top prospects participating in the DPL.  Regarded as a superb defender, Demorizi showed off his ability as a starting shortstop at the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game.  He is projected as an athletic infielder who will anchor any defense up the middle.  His offense consists of hitting gaps and using his speed, but his best tools will always be on the defensive side of the ball, a place where he makes even the most challenging plays look effortless.

The Oakland Athletics also got a tremendous player in Yairo Munoz.  Munoz is capable of playing both second base and shortstop and he showed this ability during the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory.  Scouts at the game rated him as having the best throwing arm of all infielders present and second best arm overall.  He also was an offensive force during the game, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base and 3 RBIs.  Two of those RBIs came on a line drive single in the 8th inning, which broke a 4-4 tie and proved to be the winning runs for the National Team.  Munoz will be another player who can lead an infield with his above-average range and stellar arm, and projects to hit for average and use his speed to create havoc on the base paths.  At 6 feet, 168 pounds, Munoz still has time to develop his already athletic body and has the ability to be an impact player on a Major League team in the future.

Both Demorizi and Munoz join fellow countryman Franmil Reyes, a 16-year-old outfielder who signed a $700,000 deal with the San Diego Padres in Early November.  Baseball Factory would like to congratulate all three players on their accomplishments thus far and wish them continued success throughout their professional careers.
