On Sunday November 30, Baseball Factory held an Under Armour National Tryout at Duane Swanson Field on the campus of Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers, FL. Underclassmen stole the show this day, with 2017 and 2018 graduates accounting for two-thirds of the qualifying top measurables.

2017 RHP Niels Stone (Gulf Coat HS – Naples, FL) topped at 89 mph with his fastball – a huge jump of over ten mph since he touched 78 mph at the Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament in January 2014. Stone jumped his top end FB from 78 to 89 in about 10 months.

Fellow 2017 graduate Clayton Coringrato, a 6-foot-3 185 pound OF from Wharton HS in Tampa, posted 89 mph raw velocity. He too made a big velocity jump, up from 83 mph when we saw him only a month ago at the November 2 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout & Premium Video Program in Tampa, FL. Coringrato improved his raw velocity from 83 to 89 mph in less than one month.

Not only was 2018 graduate Blaze Alexander (Bishop Verot HS – Cape Coral, FL) right on their heels after posting 88 mph raw velocity, but he earned a fielding grade approaching the top of the Baseball Factory 20-70 scouting scale. This young player is an extremely advanced defensive shortstop with standout arm strength and very good speed for his age – he posted 7.06 in the 60 yard dash.

Alexander wasn’t the only slick fielding shortstop at the ballpark, 2016 Bryan Lavastida (Miami Brito HS) flashed some serious leather of his own, featuring sure hands along with good range and an accurate arm.

The best runners of the day were 2015 L/L OF Kevin Acevdeo (Palmetto, FL HS) with 6.60, and 2017 OF Luke Endsley (Ida Baker HS – Cape Coral, FL) with 6.85.
