2010 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Top Players: 2012 Grads

There were many tremendous players who participated in the 2010 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America. Although choosing just a few to recognize is a difficult task, we have relied on the expertise of our scouts to determine the following categories: Top 10 2010 Prospects, Honorable Mention 2010 Prospects, Top 10 2011 Prospects, Honorable Mention 2011 Prospects, Top 5 2012 Prospects. The lists are based on a combination of performance at the event and our scouts’ projection of each player’s ability. Congratulations to all who participated on a great event.

1. Carson Kelly – 3B/RHP | 6'1/180 | R/R | 2012 | Westview HS | Portland, OR
Carson is a talented 2-way player at both 3B and RHP. At the plate, his strong, lean frame produces bat speed and hard contact. He drives balls to all fields with plus power to the pull side. At 3B his feet and hands both work well and his arm produces on-line carry across the diamond. On the mound, Carson mixes a sinking 87 mph fastball, a change with outstanding arm speed and a slider that is sharp and will continue to be an out-pitch at future levels. Overall, Carson is a complete package with an extremely bright future.

2. Jason Goldstein – C | 5'11/190 | R/R | 2012 | Highland Park HS | Highland Park, IL
Jason is an advanced prospect behind the plate. He possesses the strong, durable body that will allow him to handle the position physically at the next level. He is quiet behind the plate with soft, yet firm, hands.  Jason moves well laterally, has a quick transfer, and a solid / accurate arm that have led to throws to 2B as low as 1.93. At the plate, he has quick hands with a level swing and the ball jumps off his bat.

3. Colton Freeman – OF/LHP | 6'1/190 | L/L | 2012 | Spain Park HS | Hoover, AL
Colton is a strong, physical OF/LHP with skills at both spots. On the mound, he already has three quality pitches that he throws for strikes. He throws a tailing fastball that hovers in the mid 80s and complements that with a big-breaking curve and a change that tumbles away from RH hitters. At the plate Colton shows an aggressive approach that utilizes his plus bat speed and solid eye-hand coordination. He tracks balls well in the OF and has the arm strength to make him a quality all-around RF in the future.

4. Justin Rose – 2B | 5'7/140 | R/R | 2012 | Riverview HS | Riverview, FL
Justin is a lean 2B who can really swing the bat. He consistently centers balls at the plate and has deceptive pop as he drives balls to all fields. His swing is short, compact and effective. At 2B he is aggressive to the ball and works through it well displaying sure hands and a good defensive feel. Justin has the look of a run-producing 2B at the next level.

5. Matt Tulley – RHP/SS | 6'0/185 | R/R | 2012 | Lowell HS | Lowell, MA
Matt is an athletic, talented 2-way player both on the mound and in the infield.  On the mound, Matt shows a loose arm and a fastball that tops at 87 mph. He throws four pitches out of a sound, balanced delivery. As a hitter, Matt shows a repeatable, level stroke with good extension and bat speed. Defensively, he shows soft hands and the arm strength necessary to play the left side of the diamond at the next level.  Overall, this is a very interesting prospect to track over the next few years.
