2012 Kelly Kulina Classic
Columbia, MD – In October of 2009 Baseball Factory lost a dear friend when Kelly Kulina suddenly passed away. He was an integral part of Baseball Factory from 2001 – 2009 and a contributor to the game of baseball for over 20 years including 10 years as the recruiting coordinator for the University of Maryland. In an effort to honor Kelly’s memory, Baseball Factory is proud to host the 2012 Kelly Kulina Classic.
The 2012 Kelly Kulina Classic will take place in Maryland on Friday, August 24 through Sunday, August 26, 2012. Games scheduled for Friday, August 24, will be played at Baseball Factory Field, at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). All games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 25-26, will be played at UMBC and Joe Cannon Stadium. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM on Friday and will feature seven of the top fall travel teams in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The event is free but any donations made by the teams will benefit the Kulina Children’s Education Fund. Participating teams include the: (1)Mid-Maryland Baseball, (2)Oriolelanders, (3)All Star Baseball, (4)Rookies, (5)Virginia Shamrocks, (6)Allegheny Pirates and (7)Tidewater Orioles. Scouts & College Coaches in Attendance
Kelly Kulina touched the lives of thousands of people through his community, coaching career, and with the Baseball Factory. He was instrumental in helping a multitude of aspiring baseball players achieve their dream of playing college baseball. Many people have expressed a desire to help his family, and as a result, a college fund has been set up for his children. Attendance for all three days is free in hopes that supporters will make a donation to the “Kulina Children's Educational Fund." Collections wil be taken at each location during the event. If you cannot attend but would still like to donate please make any donations payable to the “Kulina Children's Educational Fund” and mailed to:
