If you could build an ideal pitching prospect, he would have many of the qualities found in Will Childers. He has the frame scouts like – 6’4”, 205 pounds. He possesses the athleticism they want to see – starting QB on his high school football team. He has bloodlines – his father and uncle both pitched in the Major Leagues while another uncle won a College World Series and his grandfather was even drafted. And he profiles as a starter – he has three quality pitches and a repeatable delivery.

On the mound Will has an athletic delivery and a clean, quick arm. He throws a high volume of strikes with his 3-pitch mix, which is led by a low 90s fastball that has good life. His breaking ball has good rotation and bite, and he has a good feel for his change, giving him two excellent off-speed offerings. In addition to the physical attributes, Will is poised on the mound, has a feel to pitch and competes. Look for Will to impress on the mound at Wrigley Field and continue to garner attention next spring.
