Baseball Factory Players Selected to Baseball America’s All-American Teams

Another great high school baseball season has come to an end, prompting Baseball America to release their annual High School All-America team.  This distinction recognizes the best players in the country and of the 15 players named to the first team, 11 of them participated in a Baseball Factory program or have committed to participating in the near future.  In addition, 11 of the 15 players named to the second team participated in a Baseball Factory program, as well as six of the fifteen players named to the third team. In total, 28 of the 45 players named to the Baseball America High School All-America teams came through Baseball Factory.

On the first team All-American list, all five pitchers have ties to Baseball Factory. Hudson Boyd participated in the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory and was picked by the Twins in the supplemental first round of the Major League Baseball draft. Archie Bradley was named to the Baseball Factory annual Top 100 Players list and was drafted by the Diamondbacks with the number seven overall pick. Dylan Bundy was also named to the Baseball Factory Top 100 and was selected by the Orioles with their first round pick. Kyle Smith played in the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory and was a fourth round pick of the Royals. The final pitcher on the first team was Dillon Maples, who made the Baseball Factory Top 100 and is committed to play next year for the University of North Carolina.

Other first team All-Americans include outfielders Larry Greene and Josh Bell. Greene, who was named to the Baseball Factory Top 100, was drafted by the Phillies in the supplemental first round of this year’s draft. Bell, who participated in the 2009 Team One Futures Game, has committed to play for the University of Texas next year. Infielders Javier Baez, David Thompson and Dante Bichette Jr. also made the first team. Bichette Jr., son of the four-time All-Star Dante Bichette, played in the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory and was the Yankees supplemental first round pick in the draft. Baez was named to the Baseball Factory Top 100 and was the ninth overall pick by the Cubs in this year’s draft. Thompson was a junior this year and has committed to play in the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory. Thompson is also an early signee to play for the University of Miami when he graduates. The final player to make the first team is catcher Tomas Nido. Nido is also a junior this year and has participated in the 2011 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament and has also committed to playing in the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory.

Baseball Factory players were well represented on the second and third teams as well. Fellow second teamers Brett Austin (C), Jake Hager (SS), Michael Fulmer (P), and Robert Stephenson (P) were selected to Baseball Factory’s Top 100 Prospect List as high school standouts. 2010 Under Armour All-American Dwight Smith Jr. (OF) and Under Armour National Tryout participants Fernelys Sanchez (Fernelys is also committed to the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory) & Jose Fernandez (P) round out the second team.
