Cecchini Brothers Making a Name For Themselves In Pro Baseball
The Cecchini brothers, Garin and Gavin are two Baseball Factory alumni making a name for themselves in the game of baseball.
Garin, a 4th round pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2010 was a Under Armour All-American in 2009 and has already received his first taste of major league baseball, playing in 11 games last September, hitting his first major league home run in a win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Regarded as one of the best contact hitters in the Red Sox organization, Garin posted a .813 OPS in a small amount of at-bats with the Red Sox. He’s advanced rapidly and will come to camp looking to stick on the 25-man roster, even with free-agent addition Pablo Sandoval in the infield.
His younger brother Gavin, a 1st round selection (12th overall) by the New York Mets in the 2012 Draft and 2011 Under Armour All-America selection is displaying the skill set that will see him being on the major league roster very soon.
His glove work is some of the best in the entire Mets organization, possessing precise footwork, great hands and a very strong throwing arm. With the bat, he makes excellent contact like his older brother and has the ability to work counts deep. Couple that with speed on the base paths and he could be a future top-of-the-order hitter.
Both brothers share a special distinction, each being drafted from Alfred M. Barbe High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, home of this weekend’s Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout.
For many attending the tryout in Lake Charles this weekend, they could find themselves being the next Garin and Gavin Cecchini.
