Endicott, Meyer & Selin Make Strides in Louisville, KY

The Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Tour rolled through the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky on Sunday April 26, just one week prior to the The Kentucky Derby, held annually on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs in Louisville.

Our host was the Kentucky Country Day School, located about 20 miles east-northeast of Churchill Downs.

This event saw excellent all-around performances from 2017 OF Santrel Farmer (Bardstown HS – Coxs Creek, KY) and 2015 C Chance Bodine (Bethlehem HS – Bardstown, KY), and marked significant improvements from three players — 2017 1B/LHP Josh Endicott (Clay County HS – Celina, TN), 2018 OF Keigan Meyer (Northeast HS – Dubois, IN), and 2016 SS/RHP Parker Selin (Tates Creek HS – Lexington, KY).

Top performers by measurable category appear below:

2017 1B/LHP Josh Endicott

2017 1B/LHP Josh Endicott

2017 1B/LHP Josh Endicott (Clay County HS – Celina, TN) was listed at 6-foot and around 130 pounds when we first saw him in October 2011. At that event in Greenville, SC — as a seventh-grader — he ran 9.12 in the 60 yard dash and posted 64 mph raw velocity. By April 2013 he had grown six inches, put on 25 pounds, lowered his 60 yard dash by over a second down to 8.06, and got his velocity up to 76 mph (fastball velocity, not raw velocity). Now, about two years after that, he stands at 6-foot-8 and 175 pounds, and posted a 7.28 60 yard dash — nearly two seconds (yes, seconds) better than the 9.12 we saw originally.

When we first saw Keigan Meyer in early April 2013, he ran 8.65 in the 60 yard dash and posted 65 mph raw velocity. At the time, he was a seventh-grader and stood 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds. Now, a little more than two years later, he’s grown four inches and added 25 pounds, such that he is now listed at 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds — and he is still just a freshman. As he’s grown, he’s also gotten much faster and improved his arm strength — his 60 yard dash is all the way down to 7.00, while his raw velocity is all the way up to 78 mph.

2016 SS/RHP Parker Selin

In October 2013, Parker Selin posted 77 mph velocity (fastball and raw) and ran 7.78 in the 60 yard dash. The following summer, in June 2014, his fastball velocity dipped a little bit but his raw velocity jumped nearly ten ticks up to 86 mph, and his 60 yard dash fell by nearly two-tenths down to 7.61.

That fall, in October 2014, his fastball more than rebounded up to 83 mph — marking a six mph increase in just one year. At the same event, he ran 7.44 to continue his steady improvement in the 60 yard dash.

Now, about six months later, his fastball stayed about the same at 82 mph, while he continued his 60 yard dash progress with a mark of 7.15.

Raw Velocity

84 Santrel Farmer (2017 – OF – Bardstown HS – Coxs Creek, KY)

84 Drew Mills (2016 – 3B – Trinity HS – Whitesville, KY)
83 Chance Bodine (205 – C – Bethlehem HS – Bardstown, KY)

We first saw Chris Gambert about six months ago at the October 2014 Lexington, KY (my birthplace, in case you’re interested) Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout. At that event, he posted 80 mph raw velocity, along with a low pop time of 2.06 and a 60 yard dash of 7.23.

His most recent workout offered evidence of improvements in two of those three measurables. His raw velocity jumped four ticks up to 84 mph, while his 60 yard dash came down a little to 7.19. His pop times came in a little higher, with his best still at a respectable 2.13.
