Former Baseball Factory Player hits First Collegiate Home Run

Since Baseball Factory opened its doors back in 1994, our mission has always remained the same.  We strive to be the best player development and recruiting company in the nation by providing parents, players and coaches with instruction and service that is unparalleled in the amateur baseball industry.  Our ultimate goal is to help players live their dreams of playing college baseball and gaining an education.

With all of our staff working towards this central mission, we can’t help but take a step back to reflect when we receive emails like the one below from a Baseball Factory parent, Terri Friedman:

Just a note that today, Jason Friedman hit His First College Home Run (Macalester College)
It was at Snedigar Field 4 (Chandler AZ) over the left center field fence, about 410′ (and Yes I do Have the Ball)
The school is playing in the RussMatt College Baseball tournament
Oh by the way he also hit a Triple
Hope that all is well with everybody
You should also check out Tufts Baseball for Alex Grzymala*
Will call when we get back east
Thanks for all the training it has paid off
He is very excited and happy to be playing (starting at 2nd base and the outfield)

Our first introduction to Jason was in 1998, when at age 10 he attended a Baseball Factory camp at Chelsea Piers in New York City.  Between 1998 and 2006, Jason participated in over 30 camps and numerous hours of individual lessons with Baseball Factory.  Jason is now a sophomore at Macalester College where he has started 11 games this season while playing second base and the outfield.  During his freshman year he started 20 games and hit .277 with 12 runs scored, one double, three triples and eight runs batted in; but, he had to wait until his sophomore season to hit the first homerun of his college career.

As many of our coaches will tell you, at 5’9″ and 160 pounds, Jason had to outwork his competition in order to succeed.  Even at age 10 he had the desire to improve.  He became a sponge and took in as much information as he could from every coach that he worked with. Whether it was Matt Schilling during lessons or Steve Bernhardt at Baseball Factory camps, Jason was always hustling, always giving 100% and always looking for another ground ball or swing during batting practice.

Jason is the poster child for mind over matter.  He set his sights on his goals and worked as hard as he could to achieve them.  His determination has paid off as he is succeeding at the college level. We wish Jason all the best on his first college homerun and hopefully many more to come.

*On a side note, Jason’s father Terri mentions a player named Alex Grzymala in his email.  Jason and Alex attended various Baseball Factory events together.  Alex is a middle infielder who is from New York and was 5’9″ and 160 pounds when he graduated high school.  Jason and Alex seemed to be connected at the hip at Baseball Factory events.  They had the same goals and the same work ethic to reach those goals.  Alex is now a sophomore middle infielder at Tufts University.  He is hitting .308 so far this year.
