Joe Gobillot Joins 2017 Fastball Leaders at 92 mph
6-foot-6 LHP Joe Gobillot (Houston, TX) — a Vanderbilt commit — touched 92 mph at the February 7 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Tomball, TX to join seven others atop the class of 2017. Among that group are right-handers Jack Conlon (Sugar Land, TX) and Kyle Hurt (Rancho Santa Fe, CA), both recent selections for the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game scheduled for July 23 at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Also in Tomball, OF/RHP Logan Letney (Spring, TX) ran his fastball up to 84 to enter a tie for fifth-place among 2019 graduates.
At the San Diego tryout on the same day, 6-foot-5 RHP/OF Mason Pelio (San Diego, CA) topped at 88 mph to move into a tie for third-place in the class of 2018. A talented two-way player, Pelio qualified among the leaders in his class in three additional categories — top exit velocity (where he is among the top 10 with a mark of 92 mph), top raw velocity (87 mph) and top 60 yard dash (6.99).
