Nicholls State Commit Dillon Belle Reaches 95 mph in Davie, FL
After the weather failed to cooperate the previous two Sundays, we caught a break and were able to take the field in South Florida on Sunday, November 29.
The baseball field at Nova High School in Davie, FL was named Pat McQuaid Field to honor the longtime coach. Coach McQuaid won state titles in 2004 and 2005, both years in which the Nova Titans were ranked #1 in the nation by Baseball America. He was inducted into the Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2010, and has produced more than 100 college players in addition to five Major Leaguers.
This event marked the fourth time we’d seen 2016 C Dillon Belle (Hollywood, FL), a Nicholls State University commit, in 2015.
At the January 2015 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout & College PREP in Delray Beach, he posted 81 mph raw velocity, a low pop time of 1.94 and bat exit velocity of 90 mph. We saw him next in June at the Under Armour Southeast Championships, as a member of the Miami Gardens Sea Dawgs, where he showed quick hands to hit along with above average raw power.
A little later in the summer, at the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City in late July, the left-handed hitter reached 94 mph bat exit velocity and jumped his raw velocity up four ticks to 85 mph. Most recently in Davie, he again touched 85 mph raw velocity, but this time increased his bat exit velocity up to 95 mph — likely moving him inside the top 20 among 2016 graduates when the next Bat Exit Velocity Leaderboard is published this month.
