Sam Praytor

At 5’10”, 210 pounds, Sam Praytor has the ideal frame for the catching position. He is strong and durable with a body that can handle a long season behind the plate. He also has the flexibility and strong/sure hands that allow him to be a solid receiver. He throws extremely well, with on line carry to the bases and an accurate arm that produces times to second consistently in the 1.8s and as low as 1.76.

As a hitter, Sam’s right-handed stroke is short and potent. He makes loud, hard contact and has easy pull power. The ball jumps off his bat and he has the quick hands necessary to catch up to velocity. He hit over .450 for Helena High School in Alabama this spring with 15 doubles and 13 home runs during an All-State campaign, showing that his raw power plays in games.

Praytor has impressive tools, especially power and arm strength, at a premium position. One of the top catching prospects in the class, Sam should be fun to watch in Chicago on July 23rd.
