Top FB Velos – 2016 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Pitchers took the mound live in games, facing a controlled number of hitters in each frame over the course of outings scheduled for between two and three innings. Since high school baseball in some states was set to begin Monday, January 18, we saw arms at varying degrees of readiness — with the warmer weather arms not surprisingly in the best shape.
Seven pitchers in the class of 2016 touched at least 88 mph, led by Samford University signee Austin Franklin (Paxton, FL) with a top bolt of 94. We saw Franklin up to 92 mph in February 2015, at which point he’d climbed his fastball 12 mph since his first event with us two years earlier in February 2013.
Lots of good outings today. Top velo was 94mph from talented 2016 RHP Austin Franklin. 2017 RHP Christian Santana touched 92. #UAPreSeason

Ten 2017 arms reached 87, with another nineteen at 85-86 mph. RHP Christian Santana (Hialeah, FL) sat atop this group at 92 mph, marking a five mph jump from a top bolt of 87 at the September 2015 Under Armour Futures East Showcase in Jupiter, FL.
Three 2018 pitchers, all of whom we saw at the 2015 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament, reached 88 mph. RHP/OF Ryan Wimbush (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) topped at 80 in Auburndale, FL last January, and ran his fastball up to 89 mph one year later in Mesa. RHP/OF Connor Noland (Greenwood, AR) also touched 89 mph in Mesa, up from a top bolt of 86 mph one year ago in Auburndale. RHP Garrett Mullican (Humble, TX) marked a six mph jump on the top end of his fastball with a move up from 82 to 88 since last January.
