The Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Tour rolls into Hoover, Alabama to Spain Park High School, home of the Jaguars, on Sunday, October 11th.

Ben Richards and Kevin Davis are Alabama natives and both stayed within the state to continue their collegiate careers.

Ben Richards

Richards hails from Haleyville, Alabama and is a 2014 graduate from Haleyville High School where he played second base and short stop under head coach, Todd McNutt. During his senior season, Richards batted .404 and helped lead the Lions to the state semi-finals that season.

Richards’ Baseball Factory experience began in Hoover, Alabama back in October of 2011 at an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout & College PREP event, displaying talent both with the bat and defensively at short stop during his freshman year of high school. Two months later, he participated in the Pirate City Christmas Camp & Tournament where coaches were impressed with playing the game hard and his work ethic during the event. In June 2012, Richards once again attended a National Tryout event in Hoover, posting his own personal best 60-yard dash time at the time, running a 7.13 and showing plus defensive skills at short stop, attacking the baseball with soft and sure hands. With the bat, the ball jumped off his bat when he centered up on pitches.

After graduation, Richards entered 2015 joining the University of North Alabama baseball team, making the roster as a second baseman and short stop with tons of future potential for the Lions. Ben’s father, Britt, was a four-year letterman on the North Alabama baseball team from 1984 to 1987.

Kevin Davis

Davis, a 2013 graduate from T.R. Miller High School in his native, Brewton, Alabama.

As a junior in high school, Davis pitched for the USA Baseball 18U team in South Korea in 2012, helping the United States to the Gold Medal, gaining a win in the semifinal against Japan. A decorated athlete at T.R. Miller, Davis went 22-7 with a 0.95 ERA and 460 strikeouts in 199.0 innings pitched in his high school career. Davis was also named a four-time All-State selection.

His Baseball Factory experience first began at an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Mobile, Alabama back in February of 2010 and four months later, was selected to participate in the Under Armour 2010 Team One South event where he got it done in the infield, at the plate with the bat and on the mound, showing off a fastball that topped out at 89 mph during the event.

After graduation, Davis joined Auburn University to play for the Tigers in the ever-tough SEC. As a freshman, Davis saw action in three games, getting his first collegiate win, going three innings in his start against Alabama A&M. In 2015, Davis struggled to find his rhythm, allowing 11 earned runs in nine appearances, spanning the course of 9 2/3 innings pitched.
