2010 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Top Players: 2010 Grads

There were many tremendous players who participated in the 2010 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America. Although choosing just a few to recognize is a difficult task, we have relied on the expertise of our scouts to determine the following categories: Top 10 2010 Prospects, Honorable Mention 2010 Prospects, Top 10 2011 Prospects, Honorable Mention 2011 Prospects, Top 5 2012 Prospects. The lists are based on a combination of performance at the event and our scouts’ projection of each player’s ability. Congratulations to all who participated on a great event.

1. Alex Facundus – RHP/OF | 6’1/195 | R/R | 2010 | Baton Rouge, LA
Alex is an athletic two-way player that projects best on the mound. He hit 91 mph and showed good tempo, athleticism and an easy arm action. He also showed good pitchability, threw inside and has a sharp breaking ball. As an OF Alex is fundamentally sound – showing good body control, hands and footwork. His arm is also strong and very accurate. Offensively, Alex shows a balanced approach with quick hands and the ability to use the entire field.

2. Kevin Koziol – SS/RHP | 6’2/195 | R/R | 2010 | Orland Park, IL
Kevin showed very good infield skills during his time at the UA Preseason All-America. In the INF, his hands and feet worked very well together and he played with rhythm. Kevin has soft hands, athletic motions, and a strong / accurate arm across the diamond. Offensively, Kevin has good balance and bat speed. He is a strong hitter, with a good base and pop in his bat. Kevin is an advanced hitter and should only continue to improve.

3. Brett Winger – RHP/1B | 6’4/205 | R/R | 2010 | Windermere, FL
Brett showed a FB in the low 90’s to go along with good mound presence and overall pitchability. His CH is his 2nd best pitch as he maintains deception throughout. He works down in the zone and can throw strikes with all of his pitches. He also showed well at the plate as a strong hitter with quick hands and a nice overall approach. Brett has pop in his bat and will continue to develop by improving his ability to use the field.

4. Alex Ramsey – C | 6’0/185 | L/R | 2010 | Millersville, MD
Ramsay continues to show plus abilities behind and at the plate. He has plus (High School) raw arm strength as he displays accuracy on his throws. Receiving and blocking skills are quality tools that will play at the next level. Offensively he attacks the ball with his hands and displays plus bat speed. The ball jumps off his bat and he shows well above average power.

5. Brandon Drury – SS | 6’2/190 | R/R | 2010 | Grants Pass, OR
Drury continues to show as a stud in the middle of the infield. Hands and feet work well together through the fielding / throwing process as he shows the ability to make almost all plays. Arm strength is a plus, as his throws display life, carry and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Bandon continues to shine as he displays plus bat speed with a solid feel for the barrel. Hands work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields with strength in his swing. He showed hard contact all weekend and had several extra base hits.

Bradley Markey – SS/RHP | 5’10/190 | S/R | 2010 | Bel Air, MD
Markey continues to shine on the mound, where he showed upper 80’s velocity while topping at 89 mph. He had good presence and pitchability while challenging hitters with his fastball. He shows command with all of his pitches and works with good tempo. Bradley also shows excellent defensive ability and arm strength at SS, although he currently projects best on the mound.

Joseph Drum- OF/3B | 6’2/195 | R/R | 2010 | Nixa, MO
Joseph is two-way player in the OF and at 3B, and has a big, strong frame with long limbs. He has sub 7 foot speed and it translates well into his OF play. At the plate he works from a strong balanced approach. He shows excellent bat speed in a level path and the ball jumps off his barrel. He translated his approach well in game play with several hits including a 3B.

Cale Coshow – RHP/1B | 6’5/255 | R/R | 2010 | Edmond, OK
Coshow continues to project as a quality prospect on the mound. Fastball showed a range of 89-90 mph with good run. He attacks hitters with his fastball, locating to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has improved now showing as a quality pitch that will get outs at the next level. He should continue similar improvements which will translate into success at the next level.

Tate Parrish – OF/LHP | 6’0/170 | R/L | 2010 | Smithfield, NC
Tate is a legitimate LHP prospect, reaching the upper 80’s and demonstrating occasional run. Off speed pitches are quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. He is an aggressive strike thrower with deception in his delivery. Parrish also showed in the OF but his upside is on the mound with the makings to be a special left handed arm that should get looks from the top D1 schools and pro scouts.

Melvin Garcia – OF/SS | 6’0/170 | R/R | 2010 | Bronx, NY
Melvin has an athletically strong body and quick twitch muscles as indicated by his 6.83 60. We’ve also clocked him at 90 mph from the OF before. Defensively his arm strength translates and he works with an aggressive approach.  Both bat speed and strength are prevalent in Garcia’s approach at the plate, where he has tremendous upside. He also shows a balanced approach but could integrate more lower ½ to improve power and balance throughout his swing.
