Baseball Factory Alumni Recognized as ?Top 10 Prospects? in their MLB Organization by Baseball America

As the 2010 Major League season kicks off, Baseball Factory alumni will look to make their mark throughout the pros.  Recently Baseball America profiled the ‘Top 10’ prospects by MLB organization and many Baseball Factory alumni made their respective organization’s list.  Former players such as Bobby Borchering, Josh Vitters, Brett Jackson, Donavan Tate, and countless others were included among the top prospects heading into the 2010 season.

Bobby Borchering, a graduate of Fort Myers High School this past year, entered the 2009 amateur draft and was selected as the 16th overall pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Borchering participated in numerous Baseball Factory events as a standout high school third baseman including the 2008 Under Armour Southeast Tournament, the 2007 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament, and the 2008 Under Armour All-America game, powered by Baseball Factory.  Considered by Baseball America as one of the top two position players in the Diamondbacks minor league system, Borchering is expected to open at low Class A this season.

Selected to the 2006 Cape Cod High School Classic, now the Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory, Josh Vitters was drafted out of high school by the Chicago Cubs as the third overall pick in 2007.  The third baseman enjoyed a strong performance in the Arizona Fall League this year and will look to start the 2010 season in Double-A.

Former Baseball Factory player Brett Jackson, selected in the first round of the 2009 draft by the Chicago Cubs, is considered the number two prospect in the organization.   Jackson came through the Baseball Factory program after attending an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in 2005.  He would go on to participate in Baseball Factory’s Premium Video Program, Team One Showcases and the 2005 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament.  The Cubs will look to him as a future center fielder, beginning this year in Double-A for his first full pro season.

Georgia native Donavan Tate showed his unmistakable speed at the 2008 Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory, when he stole second and third base in one inning to score Team One’s first run of the game.  The high school standout was selected third overall in the 2009 draft by the San Diego Padres, and is considered by Baseball America as the top prospect in the organization.

Congratulations to all 49 of the Baseball Factory Alumni recognized as “Top 10 Prospects” of their respective organizations!

Baseball Factory would like to wish the best of luck to all our former players as they begin the 2010 season.
