Baseball Factory instructors excelling in the pros!

During the off-season, Baseball Factory is fortunate to have professional players as a part of our ever-growing staff. Now with the 2003 baseball season underway, Baseball Factory is proud to see many of its own succeeding.

Jake Weber, a valued member of the scouting department at Baseball Factory Headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, signed in January 2003 with the Anaheim Angels and is currently playing with their minor league affiliate, the AA Arkansas Travelers. The Travelers are currently 23-20 and are ranked second in their league’s East Division. Weber, an outfielder, is batting .333 with 22 runs scored, 13 doubles and 19 RBIs. Weber spent the 2001 season with the Seattle Mariners organization’s San Antonio Missions.

Prior to his professional debut, Weber enjoyed an impressive collegiate career from 1995-1998 as a standout player at the Atlantic Coast Conference’s North Carolina State University. Weber ranks second in the ACC in career runs scored (288), fifth in the ACC in runs batted in (239), is tied for 20th in the ACC in career doubles (57), and is tied for third in the ACC in career triples (21). In addition, he is second in the ACC in base hits with 366. In recognition of his success, Weber was named to the 52-member ACC 50th Anniversary team this past September.

Weber obviously has a tremendous amount of baseball experience and knowledge to offer. As a result, he has contributed immensely to Baseball Factory’s program as a member of the scouting department and as a hitting instructor.

Baseball Factory would also like to acknowledge Jayson Werth, a Baseball Factory instructor, who hit his first two Major League home runs this month. Werth is playing his second season with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Baseball Factory congratulates Weber and Werth along with other Baseball Factory instructors who are pursuing their dream of playing professional baseball. In addition, the Factory would like to thank these players for spending the off-season sharing their knowledge and experiences with aspiring ball players.
