Baseball Factory player Delmon Young selected first overall in 2003 Amateur Draft!
Baseball Factory is proud to announce that 35 of its players were selected in the 2003 Major League Draft. Five were drafted in the first round including Delmon Young who was chosen first overall by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Young, the brother of Dmitri Young of the Detroit Tigers, hails from Camarillo, California where he just finished his senior year at Adolfo Camarillo High School. Although he missed the first six games due to a sprained ankle acquired during the off season, Young went on to bat .544, hit seven home runs, drive in 28 RBIs and manage six steals.
Young’s accolades include being Baseball America’s Youth Player of the Year in 2002. That same year he reset the home run record at the World Junior Championship after hitting nine over the wall in seven games
With four years of tremendous success at the high school level behind him, it is predicted that Young will reach the majors in a short time.
