On Sunday, September 6 the Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Tour rolled through the Midwest with a stop at the home of the Kansas City T-Bones. The T-Bones are members of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, and play their home games at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas.

Connor Cahill, a 2014 All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament participant, marked impressive improvement in multiple categories with his performance at this workout. We first saw him as an 8th-grader in 2013, and now as a sophomore he appears to be developing into a solid all-around player.

Top performers by measurable category appear below:

2018 SS Connor Cahill

We didn’t test bat exit velocity when we first saw 2018 SS Connor Cahill (Lenexa, KS) at the August 2013 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Council Bluffs, Iowa — but it’s a safe bet his current mark of 84 mph is quite a bit higher than what he would have recorded a little more than two years ago.

Back then, as an 8th-grader, he ran 8.13 in the 60 yard dash and posted 68 mph raw velocity. A few months later, at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic in Vero Beach, Florida, he nudged his raw velocity up two ticks from 68 to 70 mph. Just one month after that, at the 2014 All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament in Auburndale, Florida, he gained a little ground on his 60 yard dash — with a move down from 8.13 to 8.07.

Now, a little more than two years after we first saw him, Cahill has lowered his 60-yard dash by exactly a half-second (down from 8.13 to 7.63) and has raised his raw velocity by seven miles per hour (up from 68 to 75 mph).
