Baseball Factory 2015 MLB Draft Coverage – Multi-Sport Athletes
When teams are on the clock and pressed to make a selection next week during the 2015 MLB Draft, they’ll often look to the better athletes as their selections.
Today’s draft preview features multi-sport athletes, Bryan Hoeing and Cal Raleigh who both excel on the baseball field and the basketball court as well.
The 6 feet, 6 inch, Hoeing was thought to be a perfect fit for Big 10 basketball, but he’s made it known that the sport of baseball is his future. He’s an exciting package; he has a solid, low 90’s fastball and a swing-and-miss breaking ball that will play well for whatever team selects him.
Raleigh is one of the top catchers in this year’s draft class with his skill set. Yet, he’s just as solid on the court, averaging a near double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds per game in basketball for Smoky Mountain High School in North Carolina, and then hitting over .450 with 10 homeruns on the diamond. He’s athletic and can switch-hit, a rarity for a catcher.
Both athletes are primed to have their names called early as the more athletic players certainly have the skill set to adapt to higher levels of baseball, utilizing their natural talent and having it translate to the diamond can really benefit the team that chooses them in the long run.
