Seven Baseball Factory Alums Land On Collegiate Baseball’s Pre-Season First-Team All-American List

2017 Baseball Pre-Season All-Americans have been announced by the publication, Collegiate Baseball and seven Baseball Factory alums have been honored heading into next season.

FIRST TEAM SELECTIONS

Alex Faedo – RHP – University of Florida

The Tampa, FL native just wrapped his sophomore season with the Gators by posting a team-leading 13 wins, tied for second-most in school history. He racked up 10 or more strikeouts in a game five times. Overall, the right-hander made 17 starts, going 13-3 with a 3.18 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 104 2/3 innings. Faedo participated in the 2012 Under Armour Invitational.

Alex Lange

Alex Lange –  RHP – LSU

The right-hander from Lee’s Summit, MO started 17 games in LSU’s weekend rotation as a sophomore and held opponents to a .226 batting mark. According to LSU’s website, Lange finished 2nd in the SEC in innings pitched and 4th in strikeouts, leading the way with an 8-4 mark, posting a 3.79 ERA with 125 strikeouts in 111 2/3 innings. Lange was a 2013 Under Armour All-American, working one inning in that year’s game, allowing one hit and striking out two, touching 92 mph with his fastball.

Kyle Wright

Kyle Wright –  RHP – Vanderbilt University

Wright ended his sophomore season as a Second-Team All-SEC selection after a dominant four-week early-spring stretch where he struck out 34 hitters over a span of 29 innings, winning four games. Overall, Wright made 16 starts, going 8-4 with a respectable 3.09 ERA and 107 strikeouts in just 93 1/3 innings in 2016. The Huntsville, AL native attended the 2012 Team One Futures Series Texas event.

Seth Beer

Seth Beer – OF – Clemson University

Beer dominated the Atlantic Coast Conference as a freshman and the Suwanee, GA native made the nation take notice as he won the Dick Howser Trophy, given to the player selected as the National College Player of the Year. Beer became the first freshman to ever win the award. He was also named the National Freshman of the Year by Baseball America and on the academic side, an All-ACC Academic selection and Honor Roll member. Beer batted .369 with 13 doubles, 18 homers, 70 RBI and 62 walks (good for third in the nation) in just 203 at-bats. Beer was selected as a two-time Under Armour All-American in 2014 & 2015 where he flashed brilliance from the left side with his powerful swing.

Jeren Kendall

Jeren Kendall – OF – Vanderbilt University

Kendall burst onto the scene as a sophomore in 2016 as the Holmen, WI native led the Commodores in average, hits, runs, RBI and stolen bases and was named a Second-Team All-SEC selection. Overall, he hit .332 with 16 doubles, eight triples, nine homers, 59 RBI and 28 stolen bases. Kendall got his Baseball Factory start at an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Milwaukee, WI in September of 2011 and was later a two-time Under Armour Pre-Season All-American in 2012 & 2013.

Luken Baker

Luken Baker – DH/RHP – Texas Christian University

The Spring, TX native put together a solid freshman campaign for the Horned Frogs, starting all 67 games for TCU in 2016. He led the Big 12 in batting average, hits (94), runs scored (59) and RBI (62). Baker hit .379 with 11 home runs in 248 at-bats. In addition to his big-time bat, Baker also started 10 games, going 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA, striking out 41 batters in 47 2/3 innings. Baker, like Wright above, participated in the 2012 Team One Futures Series Texas event and because of his success in the event, was an Under Armour All-American in 2014.

Brendan McKay – UT – University of Louisville

The dynamic, two-way player from Darlington, PA is on the radar of many as a potential National Player of the Year heading into 2017 as a junior after a sophomore season where he hit .333 with 19 doubles, six homers and 41 RBI. He was even better on the mound, going 12-4 with a 2.30 ERA and 128 strikeouts in 17 starts. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Louisville Regional, hitting .455 with a homer and three RBI while recording 10 strikeouts on the mound in the team’s win. McKay participated in the 2013 Kelly Kulina Classic, showing as an athletic pitcher who attacked the strike zone with a mid-80s fastball and a curve that sat 76-to-78 with 11-5 break and tight spin.
