Baseball Factory Alumni Impact #5

Follow along with us this season as we keep up with current and former Baseball Factory players who are making an impact on their team’s success. We will keep you up-to-date on the latest standout performances at the major league, collegiate and high school levels.

Major League

Josh Harrison – (Baseball Factory alumnus) The Cincinnati, Ohio native started the 2015 season right, going 2-for-4, with a double and a run scored in the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Harrison is a huge part of the Pirates team and the organization rewarded him on Wednesday with a four-year contract extension, becoming the third member of the Pirates starting lineup to be signed to a long-term deal.

Pirates GM Neal Huntington is pleased to reward Harrison for his hard work, telling the media, “Josh is a very talented, well-rounded player who helps our team win games offensively, defensively and on the bases. Additionally, he is an outstanding person who leads by example with his energy, grit and positivity. We look forward to continuing to work with Josh to achieve our shared goals.”

Nolan Arenado – (Team One West, 2007) Arenado has been on fire through the first two games, leading the Colorado Rockies to victory in games over the Milwaukee Brewers. Arenado is 5-for-9 with a double, a home run, five RBI and four runs scored. Nolan can get it done defensively too, having won a Gold Glove award in 2013 and ’14, his first two seasons in the majors.

Stephen Vogt – (Premium Video Program) Vogt, the starting catcher for the Oakland Athletics, put together a nice 2015 Spring Training, with two home runs, five RBI and five runs scored in 15 games. That has continued into the season through the first two games, going 3-for-7 with a double, home run and three RBI.

Mark Canha – (Team One West, Premium Video Program) Canha made his MLB debut on Wednesday night and had a night he’ll never forget, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI in an Oakland Athletics 10-0 victory over the Texas Rangers. The first baseman and left fielder has started the season collecting four hits in his first nine major league at-bats and just the second A’s player since 1914 with four or more RBI in his first game since Ben Grieve had five RBI against the San Francisco Giants in 1997.

College

Under Armour All-American GameMikey White – (Team One Futures Game East, South 2010, 2011 Under Armour All-American) The standout from Alabama is second on the Crimson Tide in batting (.362), home runs (3) and RBI (23). He leads the team in doubles with 11, triples with five and a .621 slugging percentage. White was one of 50 players named to the Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list before the start of the season.

 

 

 

JasonGoldsteinJason Goldstein – (National Tryout, 2010, 2011 Under Armour Pre-Season All-American) Goldstein, a junior at the University of Illinois was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the first time in his career last week. Pacing the offense, Goldstein had four multi-hit games, batting .600 with seven runs scored, four doubles, a homer and seven RBI.

 

 

KyleWrightKyle Wright – (Team One Futures Series Texas) Wright was named Co-Freshman of the week, picking up wins over Georgia and Wofford where he threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and striking out five. Wright is 4-0 on the season with a 1.16 ERA in 11 games (three starts).

 

 

 

Alex (Tino)LipsonTino Lipson – (National Tryout, Premium Video Program, 2009 Under Armour Pre-Season All-American) Lipson is batting .331 this season for the University of California – Davis this season, along with 24 runs, seven doubles, three triples, a home run and 17 RBI. The Aggies have a 19-11-1 record and 9-4 at home this season.

 

 

 

 

High School

Dazmon CameronDazmon Cameron – Daz is the son of former major leaguer outfielder Mike Cameron who hit 278 career home runs over a 17-year career. Daz, a two-time Under Armour All-American, has had an impressive last two weeks for Eagles Landing Christian Academy hitting .667 with six doubles, three home runs and six stolen bases.

 

 

 

 

Nick Shumpert – (2014 Under Armour Southwest Championships 18U) Shumpert displayed home run power in a recent tournament in Arizona, hitting three home runs in three consecutive at-bats over the course of two games. The senior at Highlands Ranch High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado is hitting .731 with four homers, nine RBI and 19 runs scored in nine games this season.

Austin RileyAustin Riley – (2014 Under Armour All-American) Riley, a senior at DeSoto Central High in Hernando, MS has committed to Mississippi State University and is off to a fast start this season. Riley is hitting .475 with 11 doubles, five home runs and 20 RBI in 21 games.
