Alex Arca, an outstanding 2016 catching prospect from Pembroke Pines, FL has committed to West Virginia Wesleyan College to continue his baseball career at the next level, receiving a mix of an academic and athletic scholarship.

This two-way athlete was hard at work in 2014 to better himself: He attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory College PREP Delray Beach, FL in Jan 2014 as a sophomore, the 2014 Under Armour Southeast Championships in June, the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City in July, followed by another College PREP event in Davie, FL in November, by then, lowering his pop time nearly two tenths of a second from his first event with us.

That hard work led him to Mesa to be selected for the 2015 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament where the backstop continued to impress. He showed a balanced approach at the plate and his pop times were as low as 1.9, putting the baseball to the bag that weekend.

Senior Director of College Recruiting for Baseball Factory, Dan Mooney, had the pleasure of working closely with the Arca Family over the last few years and is thrilled about the path Alex is on.

This is such a great story; Alex has worked hard over the last few years to live his dream of playing college baseball. His grades are outstanding and he is a fine young man off the field as well. I certainly wish him the best and know he will be a contributor to West Virginia Wesleyan’s baseball program.”

After gaining valuable experience at the Pre-Season event, Arca returned to the Under Armour Southeast Championships last June and then competed in the Under Armour Baseball Factory National East event in July against other top competition from across the nation. At the National East event, Arca’s progression continued behind the plate as scouts noted his receiving and blocking skills as “quality tools that will play at the next level as he continues to show off his athletics abilities.”

Baseball Factory was a great recruiting program for our son, Alex,” says Rebecca and Albert, Alex’s parents. “The personal attention and advice through the whole process from Dan Mooney was a fantastic asset to the program. Our son participated in many Under Armour tournaments sponsored by Baseball Factory which helped showcase his skills as a baseball player and continued to develop him as a player as well. We especially appreciate Dan Mooney’s sincere desire to get our son seen and placed in a college baseball program.”

Last season in his junior year at Calvary Christian Academy, Arca hit .571.

We congratulate Alex for his accomplishments so far and wish him success in his senior season and in the future at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
