On Sunday in Redwood City, California at the Baseball Factory National Tryout, two Factory players lives were changed forever when they became the first recipients of a scholarship initiative provided by The PitCCh In Foundation, co-founded by Baseball Factory alum, CC Sabathia and his wife, Amber Sabathia.

Sabathia’s PitCCh In Foundation provided the scholarships to two students from CC’s alma mater, Vallejo High School in Vallejo, CA. Joe Price, a 2017 OF and Zuryess Roberts, a 2018 SS, were awarded the scholarships and now have the opportunity to learn and develop their skills, holding a chance to play at the next level.

“It’s exciting to have the PitCCh In Foundation provide two students from Vallejo High School scholarships to attend the Baseball Factory’s College Prep Program. I remember attending when I was a student athlete. It will be a great experience for them,” said CC Sabathia, co-founder of the PitCCh In Foundation and Baseball Factory alumnus.

In addition to the great efforts from the former Baseball Factory and Team One alum, Price and Roberts’ head coach also has ties to Baseball Factory. Josh Ramos participated in a 2002 Under Armour Baseball Factory PREP event in San Francisco, CA and knows that the opportunity presented by The PitCCh In Foundation will be able to fully impact Joe and Zuryess and others in the future.

The PitCCh In Foundation was established in 2008 with its first event in Cleveland, and since then, has developed three Signature Programs and supported ongoing special initiatives to fulfill PIF’s mission to enrich the lives of youth from the inner city. The goal of these programs is to help teens raise their self-esteem through educational and athletic activities in an effort to give back to the community and provide young people with the belief that their dreams can become reality.
