Hans Crouse stands at a lean 6’5” tall with long levers and big confidence on the mound. He has a lightning-quick arm to go with his relaxed personality that shines through when he pitches. His delivery is slightly unorthodox and can change pitch-to-pitch (sometimes including a turn, hesitation and shoulder shimmy), but the arm speed, deception and confidence remain. He is an extremely difficult at bat for hitters–especially right-handed hitters.
Hans challenges hitters with his mid-90s fastball that touches 97 mph, while the delivery provides some deception on top of the pure stuff. Sometimes the pitch has finish and other times he has some recoil with a back leg kick-through. Either way, it has serious life and gets on top of hitters in a hurry. Hans also throws an upper 70s curve with ¾ tilt that has tight break. This isn’t just a get-me-over pitch; he uses it fairly frequently and gets outs with it.
Overall, Hans is one of the most talented arms in the class. He seems unfazed by things going on around him and shows the ability to make quality pitches at crucial times.
