Jacob Heatherly

Jacob Heatherly has a solid build at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds with a strong lower half. He shows the ability to pitch to both sides of the plate with his fastball that sits in the upper 80s-to-low 90s range, occasionally touching higher.

He throws a high volume of fastball strikes to setup his secondary pitches, and he is able to land those frequently as well — especially his breaking ball, which flashes late depth. He uses a change as his third pitch, and is able to force hitters to deal with his ability to get that in the zone as well. His arm works with quickness and life out front after a medium depth stroke from the glove, while his delivery was effective to give his arm time to work. The delivery and arm work easily with little effort and the ball gets on hitters very quickly.

Jacob combines low 90s velocity with a feel for pitching and the ability to land two quality secondary offerings — setting him up as among the better left-handers in the 2017 class.
