Alex Scherff

Alex Scherff is a physical specimen at 6’2”, 210 pounds. He is strong and developed and has a power arm. His fastball has natural tail from a ¾ arm slot and is very firm, regularly in the mid-90s.

His delivery is controlled and the ball explodes out of his hand – getting on hitters in a hurry. Aside from the velocity and movement of his fastball, Alex mixes in a slider with tight spin that has late 2-plane break. He uses it to induce lots of swing-and-misses. Add in a change up with good arm speed and some late fade and you get a very complete 3-pitch repertoire. The durable, work-horse body combined with outstanding stuff has the makings of legitimate starter potential at higher levels.
