Steve Marowski Leading Albion College in His Freshman Season
Steve Marowski wrapped up his freshman season for Albion College, a division III school in Albion, Michigan this past weekend, with plenty to build on for both himself and the team for next season.
The freshman infielder put together a fine season with the bat for the Britons, finishing the season with a .308 average, three home runs and 27 RBI, including a .341 average with nine extra-base hits against conference competition.
Marowski put in his work as a Baseball Factory alumnus, attending a Premium Video Program session in Adrian, MI in May of 2013, nearby his hometown of Farmington Hills, then received an invitation to play in the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City in August of 2013.
“Steve is a hard-working player. He believed that each day was an opportunity to get better and excel at his craft,” says Dan Forester, Senior VP of Player Development for Baseball Factory.
Steve finds himself on an Albion squad that is young – one of five freshman that started most games – and as the season progressed, the team gelled, winning five of their last eight games to end the season, and Steve was a major reason for winning down the stretch.
On April 27, he collected two hits, including a game-winning, ninth-inning single as the Britons knocked off seventh-ranked Heidelberg, 8-7. In the season finale, Marowski knocked in three runs in a 14-6 victory over Alma on May 3.
“He couldn’t be happier, both with sports and academics at Albion, and his experience with Baseball Factory had a lot to do with him getting to this level,” Steve’s father, Dan Marowski mentions.
Marowski was a four-year letter-winner in baseball at Harrison High School in Farmington Hills and a two-time All-Farmington Observer player.
