The 2016 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Kicks Off The Road To Wrigley
In less than a week, players from all corners of the country will head to Mesa, Arizona for the 2016 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament with a chance to showcase their skills and make a name for themselves.
Sloan Park in Mesa, home to the Chicago Cubs Spring Training Facility, will be alive with on-field instruction, training and game-play in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for players who’s next step hopefully leads to Wrigley Field for the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game this summer.
Over 375 players will attend this year’s three-day event, with participants making up 43 states in total, along with the country of Japan being represented in this world-class event. An event of this magnitude brings major league teams in for a peek as well; last year, all 30 MLB teams had a scouting representative present along with the MLB Scouting Bureau.
The weekend kicks off with an awards ceremony and players graduating in 2017 and 2018 will have the full attention of the Under Armour All-America Game Selection Committee for their chance to play in this year’s All-America Game.
“Baseball Factory scouts tens of thousands of players nationwide to identify the best of the best to represent Under Armour and Baseball Factory at the All-America Game,” said Steve Bernhardt, Executive VP at Baseball Factory and Chairman of the Under Armour All-America Game Selection Committee. “The Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament is a key event in the Baseball Factory selection process. We take a close look at all 2017 & 2018 graduates in attendance. Last year alone, five players started on the road to Wrigley Field based on their performance at the Pre-Season Tournament.”
The five players: Carter Aldrete, Bo Bichette, Carter Kieboom, Alex Speas and Graeme Stinson were all Pre-Season All-Americans before being selected to play in the All-America Game at Wrigley last August. All five were contributors in last year’s game and have committed to major Division I schools to play collegiately in the future.
