Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Spotlight – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Tour rolls into Pittsburgh this Sunday, April 3rd to Fox Chapel High School, for pre-high school players, ages 12-14 and high-school, ages 14-18.
Both players highlighted are from the Pittsburgh area and attended numerous Under Armour Baseball Factory events during their time in high school and now play collegiately.
Dylan Cyphert – Cyphert is a native of Oil City, PA, roughly an hour and a half north of Pittsburgh and graduated last year from Cranberry High School where upon graduating, was the 473rd ranked player in the nation and 13th overall in Pennysylvania. He led his team to the District 9 finals last May after an outing where he struck out 12 and pitched in with the bat, hitting a triple and driving in two in the team’s 5-1 victory over No. 2 ranked Karns City.
Initially committing to play at the University of Pittsburgh, Cyphert is now in Florida playing for the Gulf Coast State College Commodores in his freshman season, helping to lead the team to a 29-6 record and a 6-2 conference record. Cyphert has made six starts (nine appearances overall) going 5-1 with a 5.25 ERA and 30 strikeouts to just nine walks in 36.0 innings pitched, the third most on the staff.
We first saw Dylan in September of 2011 when he attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory College PREP event in Pittsburgh and a month later, was in Arizona for the Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic. In 2012, he attended another Tryout in Pittsburgh and Fall Classic and a was a Kelly Kulina participant in 2013.
Ryan Karstetter – Karstetter, from Port Matilda, PA was a four-year varsity letterwinner, earning two at State College Area High School before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida for his junior and senior seasons. During his time at IMG, Ryan earned MVP honors, hitting .469 in 2014 and .412 last season before heading to the University of Virginia to play for the defending National Champions.
Karstetter is fitting in nicely with the Cavaliers, starting 15 games and playing in 20 overall, hitting .297 with three doubles, a triple and 13 RBI. He’s played outstanding in the field, mostly in the infield, but has seen time in the outfield as well to keep his bat in the lineup.
In August of 2013, the 6’4″, 200 pound Karstetter participated in the prestigious Kelly Kulina Classic.
Dylan and Ryan are continuing to reach their potential by having attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory event. Don’t miss out on your opportunity today! Please visit our tryout schedule for more information on a National Tryout coming to a town near you!
