Now, a little more than seven months later, he recorded 6.75 to trim nearly fourth-tenths of a second off his 60 yard dash, and also saw a three mph increase in his raw velocity (up from 77 to 80).

Noah Eaker

2017 RHP Noah Eaker

When we first saw 2017 RHP Noah Eaker (Cherryville, NC HS) at the Greenville, SC Under Armour Baseball Factory Interactive Video Program in April 2013, he topped at 72 mph with his fastball and ran 8.09 in the 60 yard dash.

Over the course of three events between July 2013 and January 2014, his top end fastball was 76, 72 and 75, while his 60 yard dash was 7.56, 7.56 and 7.69.

The January 2014 Baseball Factory Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament was actually the last time we saw Eaker. Now, more than a year-and-a-half later, he topped at 81 mph with his fastball (good for a 9 mph jump since April 2013) and spun a much improved breaking ball with mid 60’s velocity and defined 11-to-5 shape. More impressive however was his ability to throw strikes with his pitches — he appeared to have great feel for his fastball and curve, and was around the plate with his change.

2017 RHP/3B Ross Chandler

2017 RHP/3B Ross Chandler

At the April 2015 Under Armour Baseball Factory College PREP in Chattanooga, 2017 RHP/3B Ross Chandler (Guntersville, AL HS) topped at 79 with his fastball and spun a 60-61 mph breaking ball.

A few months later at the August 2015 Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City, he again topped at 79, but this time threw his breaking ball in the 65-66 mph range.

Now, about a year and a half after we first saw him, he added three ticks to his fastball (up from 79 to 82 mph) and improved his breaking ball by nearly a full grade on the Baseball Factory 10-70 Scouting Scale (velocity on the pitch up to 69 mph most recently, an improvement of 8 mph overall). Chandler also posted a 4 mph increase in bat exit velocity, moving up from 84 to 88 mph.

Catcher Release Times

A little more than two years ago at the Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Charlotte, 2017 C Tristan Shea (Porter Ridge HS – Charlotte, NC) posted release times between 2.17 and 2.21, and recorded 83 mph raw velocity. His most recent workout included a low end pop time of 1.86 and raw velocity of 91 mph — good for improvements of more than three-tenths of a second and 8 mph respectively. Shea, a switch-hitter, also notched impressive bat exit velocities of 88 mph right-handed, and 91 mph left-handed.

2017 C/SS Grant Latham

Two years ago at the October 2013 Sauget, IL Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout, 2017 C/SS Grant Latham (Bismarck, MO R-V School) recorded release times between 2.25 and 2.38 along with raw velocity of 73 mph. One year later, again in Sauget in October, he got his times down in the 2.16 to 2.31 range.

At the June 2015 Baseball Factory Omaha National World Series he posted a low time of 2.03 and gained one tick on his raw velocity (up to 74 mph).

Now, at his third consecutive October Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Sauget, he gained four more mph on his raw velocity (up from 74 to 78 mph) and posted a low pop time of 2.10.

2019 C/SS Chance Roberts

2019 C/SS Chance Roberts

We first saw 2019 C/SS Chance Roberts (Aledo, TX HS) at the July 2013 Under Armour Baseball Factory Interactive Video Program in Plano, TX. At that event (the summer before starting 7th-grade) he posted 63 mph raw velocity, recorded release times between 2.83 and 3.01, and ran 8.57 in the 60 yard dash.

He trimmed his release times first, with a move down to 2.57 at the December 2013 Baseball Factory Winter Classic. Then, in April 2014 at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Interactive Video Program in Plano, he got his raw velocity up to 67 mph (an improvement of four miles per hour) and his 60 yard dash down to 7.88 (an improvement of nearly seven-tenths of a second). His raw velocity jumped another 4 mph (up to 71 mph) a few months later at the July 2014 Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City.

At the April 2015 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Plano, he ran his raw velocity up to 80 mph — good for an improvement of 13 mph in just one year, and 17 mph overall. At the same event, Roberts posted another sub-eight second 60 yard dash (7.95), and got his pop times down as low as 2.38.

A few months later at the July 2015 Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City, he lowered his pop time down to 2.35, and got it down to 2.30 at the Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic with the Baseball Factory Red team.

Now, more than two years after we first saw him, he posted pop times between 2.10 and 2.16 — good for an improvement of more than seven-tenths of a second.
