Tanner Burns is one of the top right-handed pitchers in the country. His solid, proportioned frame is both strong and athletic. His delivery is rhythmic and repeatable leading to a high volume of strikes with all of his offerings. His go-to pitch is a lively fastball that is regularly in the mid-90s and comes from a clean arm circle and a low-effort delivery. He is in-line with his arm working very quickly through his high ¾ slot. To go along with his fastball, Tanner throws a breaking ball with 2-plane break. It has good rotation and good depth leading to a high percentage of swing-and-miss results. Add to it a quality change that has good arm speed, and the 3-pitch mix is of starter quality.

Even with the high level stuff, Tanner’s biggest attributes may be found in his intangibles. He is an extremely hard worker and is a competitor. In fact, he was the Alabama 6A Hitter of the Year after batting .472 with 13 HRs and 60 RBIs – playing SS when he wasn’t pitching. In addition, he is the son of a college coach and has grown up around the game. His high baseball IQ can be seen in the way he attacks hitters and composes himself on the mound.

Tanner is the total package and should shine on the big stage at the Under Armour All-America Game.
